Mother charged after 6-year-old brings loaded AR-style pistol on school bus

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WKRC) — A South Carolina mother was charged after authorities said her 6-year-old child brought a loaded firearm onto an elementary school bus.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday as the child was traveling to JP Thomas Elementary School, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Another student reported seeing what appeared to be a BB gun. School officials notified a school resource officer, who discovered an AR-style pistol loaded with .300 Blackout ammunition inside the 6-year-old’s bag, authorities said…
