County vs. town: Conflict over proposed Midlands development becomes legal battle as suit is filed

LEXINGTON — Lexington County has filed suit against the town of Chapin in a dispute over access to the town’s water treatment system.

The county filed the lawsuit on Aug. 24, according to court records. The town had not filed a response as of 3:30 p.m.

County and town officials had been signaling a court battle for months, as the entities have sparred over a planned 600-home development on county-owned land at the town’s entrance.
