KINGSTREE, S.C. (WBTW) — The Medical University of South Carolina has opened the Rena N. Grant Sickle Clinic in Kingstree to serve patients living in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions.
The new facility eliminates the need for area residents with sickle cell disease to travel long distances to Charleston or Columbia for specialized care.
Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood condition transmitted from both parents to their children that occurs frequently within African American populations.
