South Carolina Woman Charged With Murder for Allegedly Strangling 79-Year-Old Grandmother to Death

Deputies responding to a domestic violence call found the victim unresponsive on the floor

Authorities arrested a South Carolina woman accused of strangling her 79-year-old grandmother to death following an altercation last week.

Aneia Anderson, 20, has been charged with murder in connection with the Jan. 19 slaying of her elderly family member, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, WIS-TV , WLTX-TV , and WACH-TV reported.

It’s unclear if she entered a plea to the charge.

The Richland County coroner identified the victim as Lutisha Benson, according to WIS.

Deputies responding to a domestic violence call at a home in Columbia, South Carolina, Friday, found Benson unresponsive on the floor.

Authorities did not elaborate on the suspected motive.

Benson was pronounced dead at the hospital and Anderson was taken into custody, the outlet reported.
