Georgia Drops Third Straight Game for First Time of the Year

Athens, GA – The Georgia Bulldogs fall to the South Carolina Gamecocks in their third loss at home of the season and third loss in a row. The Bulldogs are now 14-8 overall and 4-5 in the SEC. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks advance to 19-3 overall and 7-2 in the conference.

South Carolina collected the opening tip-off and took advantage, opening up scoring with a dunk by Collin Murray-Boyles with 19:39 left. This was the first of three dunks within the first four minutes for the Gamecocks. In contrast, the Dawgs found little success scoring within the paint; they only scored one field goal within the first 10 minutes. The Dawgs were able to establish and maintain a lead for over 15 minutes of the first half, however. This was largely due to the Bulldogs’ success shooting behind the arc, especially in the first 10 minutes. For the game, UGA went 44.4% on 18 attempts from 3-point range. Senior guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim led the Bulldogs’ overall scoring effort with 11 points in the first half, 9 of which came from 3-point shots. Freshman Blue Cain also put up points for the Dawgs in the first, going 3 for 4 on 3-point attempts.
