HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) – A fight between homeowners and a nonprofit organization is brewing in Horry County. On March 20, a review committee in Columbia will look over the lease proposal between Santee Cooper and the Grand Strand Humane Society. If approved, the shelter will build a new facility near the Myrtle Beach gas turbine site just off Highway 17 and across from the Coastal Grand Mall.
