Streams Development and Century Development Partners plan to build a $94.5 million residential project in Columbia. The project, The Streams at Earlewood, will be near the historic Earlewood community. It will feature 300 apartments of varying sizes and a 520-space parking garage. The project will also create new jobs and construction opportunities.
The Richland County Council approved the development plan. This approval was part of the Commercial Development Program, a collaboration with the City of Columbia. The City had given its approval earlier. Alex Dmyterko, CEO of Streams Development, mentioned the site’s location as a key factor in its selection.
The Streams at Earlewood will offer amenities like a swimming pool, dog park, and EV charging stations. The site, originally a shopping center, was bought by the Central Baptist Church of Columbia. Brent Chitwood, Managing Director at SVN Blackstream, thanked the City of Columbia and Richland County for their support.
The project aligns with the goals of Richland County and the City of Columbia to provide modern housing options. Jesica Mackey, Richland County Council Chair, and Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann both expressed support for the project.
