According to a new report published by Auto Blog, a vehicle facility just recently broke ground in SC and could potentially produce more than 200,000 vehicles a year.
According to the report, Volkswagen Group’s all-electric “Scout Motors” broke ground on Thursday, February 15 in Blythewood. According to the article, the company will build “off-road capable pickup trucks and SUVs inspired by the international Harvester Scout produced from 1960 to 1980.”.
The plant will be on 1,600 acres and will bring 4,000 jobs to the area. Production at the plant should begin by the end of 2026. The company said that it is aiming for each vehicle to be priced at $50,000.
