Florida congressman to headline South Carolina Republicans’ Silver Elephant fundraising gala

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD)- A freshman Florida congressman who has questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election is slated to headline the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual Silver Elephant gala this weekend.

The event held in Columbia brings together some of the state’s top Republicans for a night of fundraising.

U.S. Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) will serve as the keynote speaker at the Aug. 17 event, state Republican Party officials announced last week.

“Congressman Mills has been an avid defender of our country’s freedoms long before he became a member of the U.S. Congress,” SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick said in a statement. “He’s stood in the gap, time and time again, to protect and help Americans who’ve been left behind due to the failures of the Biden/Harris administration.”

“I can’t wait to welcome him to the Palmetto State, rally behind our shared principles, and get ready to beat Democrats up and down the ballot this November,” he continued.
