The Oklahoma Sooners just lost one of the most important games remaining on the season. This game was supposed to be the one they bounced back on after a tough Red River Rivalry loss to the Texas Longhorns in a game that was pretty embarrassing, to say the least.
The South Carolina Gamecocks aren’t a dominant team in the SEC by any means, and this was widely looked at as a game they should win but in a similar fashion to the way they beat the Auburn Tigers. But, that did not happen at all. In fact, it felt like a part two of what happened last weekend.
The Sooners started the game down 21-0, and the Gamecocks had only had about one minute of possession on offense. That’s two interceptions and a fumble, with two of those returned for a touchdown.
Maybe had Jackson Arnold started the game those big turnovers and points the offense gave up, wouldn’t be a problem. But, who knows? It still happened.
The lone score came on a big-time throw by Jackson Arnold to Brenan Thompson. But, that wasn’t enough, as the Sooners still lost 35-9 at home. If it was on the road, it would be a different story. But, we are now having to have a conversation about Brent Venables and one former head coach who this fan base absolutely hates.
