An Upstate woman didn’t believe her eyes when she scratched off a lottery ticket in the middle of the night and revealed the game’s grand prize, according to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
“I thought, ‘Am I dreaming?’ ” she said in a news release.
It was no dream, and she had won the Wild Cash Multiplier Extra Play game’s $300,000 jackpot , according to the release.
The woman woke up at 1 a.m., and remembered the ticket she had bought for $10 at DD’s Food Mart , a gas station/convenience store on Arthur Boulevard in Union, officials said. She didn’t get much sleep after uncovering the six-figure prize, according to the release.
Despite the win, and a lack of sleep the woman said she behaved as though nothing had changed the following morning.
“I got up and went to work as normal,” she said. “And, I didn’t tell anyone.”
The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous .
