Today, my husband Michael Jordan and I went grocery shopping at the Walmart on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia, SC. Grocery shopping for our family of five is always a stressful task, especially since we rely solely on my husband’s income while I stay at home with the kids. Each trip feels like a struggle as most of his paycheck goes toward food.
This evening, we had our youngest daughter with us, who was overtired and fussy, just wanting to go to bed. As we unloaded our groceries onto the belt for the cashier, we were bracing ourselves for the usual routine. However, this time, something incredible happened.
The cashier, unlike many we’ve encountered before, was warm and friendly. She made a comment like, “Looks like you’ve got a big family with all these groceries!” I smiled and replied, “Yes, we do.” When she finished ringing up the items, she gave me the total, and I started counting the cash in my wallet.
Then, out of nowhere, the cashier smiled and said, “It looks like you need a blessing tonight.” I didn’t think much of it, but then she stepped away from her register, tapped a few buttons on the keypad, and returned to her station. I glanced at the screen and was completely speechless—she had paid for half of our groceries.
