SC has the worst DUI fatalities in the country. Here’s what a pre-filed bill might do to change that.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A new bill pre-filed in the South Carolina Senate sets out to address what some call “gaps” in the state’s prosecution of DUI cases. 474 people were killed due to impaired driving in 2022, according to a study by the Simrin Law Group. That leaves South Carolina with the worst rates for drunk driving fatalities by population and by miles driven.
