COLUMBIA, S.C. – An apartment complex has been deemed unsafe by the Columbia Fire Marshal after an inspection following a fire on New Year’s Day. Residents at Spring Lake Apartments off Garners Ferry Road alerted News19 to representatives with the Columbia Fire Marshal’s office posting “Unsafe Building” notices on doors throughout the complex Tuesday morning. The signs read, “This building has been declared an unsafe building and shall be evacuated immediately. Persons shall not enter or reenter until authorized to do so by the Fire Marshall.”
