Chapin, SC – A confirmed EF-1 tornado struck the Chapin-Lake Murray area of Lexington County on the morning of March 16, 2025, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Columbia, South Carolina. The tornado packed peak winds of 90 mph and traveled a 5.8-mile path from the Timberlake community northeastward to Old Lexington Road and Wessinger Road.
According to NWS officials, the tornado touched down at approximately 7:38 a.m. and remained on the ground for about 10 minutes before dissipating at 7:48 a.m. The storm had a maximum width of 125 yards. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
