Suspect arrested in deadly north Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a deadly overnight shooting in north Columbia.

Police took 24-year-old Benjamin T. Patterson, Jr. into custody Monday evening, charging him with murder and two weapons violations.

Police say the shooting happened in the 400 block of Floyd Drive, where a 58-year-old man suffered a fatal upper body injury. Deputies have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending family notification…
