Hundreds rally in Columbia to help kids facing crisis and foster care

COLUMBIA, S.C. — On Saturday, hundreds of women came together at the historic Robert Mills House for the second annual Garden & Hat Party, hosted by Midlands Orphan Relief to support vulnerable children in the Columbia area.

The nonprofit, which helps kids who’ve been through abuse, neglect, or abandonment, hopes the event will show how much small acts of kindness can mean.

“That’s what this work does, it’s not just about shampoo and socks, it’s about dignity and showing up for someone in a moment that can define their lives,” a Midlands Orphan Relief representative said during the event…
