‘Its unfair to the citizens’: Request for new judges could alleviate family court backlogs in Lexington County

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) – South Carolina’s Chief Justice John Kittredge described the state’s family court system as a “crisis.”

In an effort to change that and alleviate the backlog, Kittredge requested an annual $1.8 million from the state budget for three new family court judges. The money would help pay for the new family court judges in Berkeley, Beaufort and Lexington counties.
