Sheriff’s department investigating body found in northeast Columbia creek

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a body was found Friday in a creek that runs under Decker Boulevard in northeast Columbia.

The body was recovered Friday afternoon in Jackson Creek, near the intersection of Decker Boulevard and O’Neil Court, the sheriff’s department said in a statement. That’s not far from the old Decker Mall building, which now houses Richland County Central Magistrate Court, a sheriff’s department annex and a community room for public events.
