Jose Maria Gonzales Linares, 13, has been identified as the eighth grade student who was killed in a school bus crash that sent 38 people to the hospital.
The crash, which left the bus on its side across multiple lanes of traffic, happened Thursday afternoon on Interstate 77 in Chester County. Students from Pine Ridge Middle School were riding home from a field trip to the Charlotte area when a tire blew out, school district officials said.
Linares, an eighth grade boy who attended Pine Ridge, was the only confirmed death as of Friday morning. Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker released his name to the media around 11 a.m. Friday.
