COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A line of strong storms could move into the Midlands tonight, because of that it is a First Alert Weather Day. We’ve also issued a First Alert for Monday’s heavy rain.
First Alert Headlines:
- Chance of strong storms tonight into the early morning hours making it a First Alert Weather Day.
- Cool temps with shower chances expected for Mother’s Day Weekend.
- Heavy rain is possible Monday making it a First Alert Weather Day.
First Alert Summary:
Tonight is a First Alert Weather Day for strong thunderstorms with gusty winds. Wind is our primary threat from these storms, frequent lightning, and hail cannot be ruled out either. The National Weather Service has our northern counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until Midnight tonight. This means that severe weather is possible. A warning will be issued if it is happening. We could see development of storms to our northwest push to the southeast at around 9pm to midnight for our northern counties.
Our models are indicating that there could be more activity from around 1am to 7am throughout the Midlands. Expect heavy downpours that could lead to flooding on already saturated soils from this morning’s activity. We will keep the First Alert Weather Day up until the heavy rain moves out of the Midlands, which should be around 7am to 9am.
The resto of Friday looks pretty nice and warm with mostly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of an isolated shower. Highs are in the mid 80s…
