Three Richland County Sheriff K9s killed in the line of duty were honored Thursday at Richland County Sheriff’s headquarters with an unveiling of the K9 memorial.
The deputy dogs K9 Wick, K9 Kodak, and K9 Bumi were recognized for their service after a national recognition in Washington, D.C. honoring other K9s across the country. The three K9s all lost their lives last year while serving. The memorial remembers all the dogs who have served the agency and is an addition to the headstone with a name engraved of the dogs who have served. Those who lost their lives have a star next to their name on the headstone.
“They’re more than just a dog,” said Lott. “They put on the vest just like their human handler does.”…
