South Carolina K-9 shot during manhunt is home and recovering, sheriff says

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina sheriff’s office K-9 that was shot by a suspect hiding from deputies in the woods this week is home and “doing fine,” according to the sheriff.

Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers said K-9 Angus came home on Friday evening. The sheriff said he would likely be out of work for at least some time to recover. However, he didn’t know how long that would be.

The suspect in the case, 45-year-old Jermaine Eric Halmon of Orangeburg, remains in the hospital and will likely face multiple charges, including attempted murder and injuring a police dog, when he is released…
