The Columbia Police Department (CPD) is investigating a shooting in the Elmwood Park neighborhood of Columbia that left one person dead and three others injured.
According to the CPD, it initially received reports of a car break-in at 2408 Lincoln St. around 5:15 a.m. on Friday morning. Officers several blocks away responded as the call was changed to a report of shots fired. Upon arriving, officers found that two men and two women had been shot. One of the male victims died as a result of his injuries and the other three victims were transported to an area hospital.
Conducting an interview with media partners at the scene on Friday, Columbia Police Chief W. H. “Skip” Holbrook said, “We do not believe that there is any kind of active threat to this community or anyone specifically. We do know however, that someone did flee the scene that we believe is armed and dangerous, but we have no information or any information that would suggest there was another intended target somewhere.”…
