(WACH) — As people across the Midlands celebrate the Fourth of July, many towns in the area are reminding the public about the fireworks ordinances they have in place.
Here is a list of the ordinances:
City of Columbia
- Fireworks permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- Extended hours on July 4 until 12:30 a.m.
- Violations carry fines up to $100; repeat offenses may result in a nuisance designation for the property.
Richland County
- Fireworks are banned between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
- Exceptions on July 4 and New Year’s Eve: use allowed until 1:00 a.m.
- Penalties: First offense: $500, second offense: $750, third or subsequent offenses: $1,000 (within five years)
