Invasive spotted lanternfly reaches South Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A new invasive species has been identified in South Carolina, posing an economic and agricultural threat, according to experts.

The Clemson Extension Service said the spotted lanternfly, also known as Lycorma delicatula, has been detected in South Carolina for the first time. Authorities said the bugs were found in the areas of Greenville and Seneca.
