New series ‘Unsolved Upstate’ sheds light on South Carolina mysteries

(WSPA) A new series titled Unsolved Upstate is diving deep into some of South Carolina’s unresolved cases. Led by 7NEWS’ Gordon Dill and Kelci O’Donnell, the show focuses on the crimes and disappearances that have left families in the Upstate region without answers for years.

“These are real people with families, friends, and futures,” said Gordon Dill. “If this show can help generate even one useful lead, then it’s worth it.”

As the series continues, viewers can expect to see more in-depth looks at homicides, missing persons, and cold cases across the Upstate region, all with one goal: to bring justice and healing to communities still searching for answers.

Episode One: A Party Turned Tragedy in Union County

The debut episode focuses on a shooting that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic on May 23, 2020, at a massive block party on Dover Road in Union County. Estimated to have drawn around 1,000 attendees, investigators said the gathering ended in chaos when gunfire erupted, leaving two young men dead and six others hurt.

The Victims

The two people killed were:

  • Jabari Brandon, 17, of Union
  • Curtis Lamont Bomar, 21, of Spartanburg
