GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Cindy S. Crick said a woman has been found guilty in a deadly shooting of an Upstate mother in 2022.
The solicitor’s office said Dione Griffith Dobbs, 54, was sentenced to 30 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. She faced the following charges:
- Murder
- Assault and battery by mob, first degree
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
- Discharging a firearm into a occupied vehicle
- Pointing and presenting a firearm
This stems from an incident on Sept. 13, 2022, when officials said a large fight involving several people took place on Staunton Bridge Road. Evidence presented in court showed Dobbs firing a gun at a vehicle as it tried to get away.
Officials said the passenger in the car was shot. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Ju-Keya Babb was rushed to the hospital where she passed away.
“Ju-Keya the last words that she told us, she was like ‘y’all I love y’all please don’t let me die. Tell my kids that I love them,” said Cohen, “and she went out and I just went 90 miles per hour down that road to get my cousin to the hospital.”…
