Body of 63-year-old missing woman found near I-126 westbound

Two westbound lanes along I-126 near Columbia were temporarily closed on Wednesday afternoon as Special Victims Unit officers with the City of Columbia Police Department (CPD) conducted a search in connection with a missing persons case.

Working with the Richland County Coroner’s Office, the CPD later announced that the body of 63-year-old Wanda J. Collins, who had been reported by a loved one as a missing vulnerable adult on Tuesday, had been found off the side of the road near I-126 Westbound. According to the CPD, Collins was last seen in the same area on Tuesday night.

The CPD has indicated that no foul play is suspected at this time, and that an autopsy will be conducted by the Richland County Coroner’s Office…
