COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Scorching heat and high humidity leading to heat index values expected to reach as high as 108 to 112 degrees at times continue for several more days.
First Alert Headlines
- First Alert Weather Days in place until Thursday.
- Minimal to zero rain chances next few days.
- Increasing rain chances and decreasing temps late in week into weekend.
First Alert Summary:
Today and tomorrow are forecast to be even hotter than Saturday. Actual air temperatures in the afternoon will peak between 99 to 101 degrees in most locations. However, with the humidity, it will feel more like between 108 to 112 degrees during the peak heating of the day! A Heat Advisory is in effect now through 8 pm Monday.
Because intense heat and humidity that could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke will remain in place through much of this week, First Alert Weather Days continue through Thursday. Remember to practice heat safety. Hydrate frequently through the day and take breaks often in the shade and air conditioning. Avoid the hottest part of the day which is typically from late morning through late afternoon. Listen to your body, and don’t overdo it. Here are signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and what to do.
By late in the week, the upper level ridge in place weakens, allowing a surface cold front to approach and move into the region Friday. This along with an increase in cloud cover and storm chances will provide some long-awaited relief from the current heat wave.
