Decker Boulevard crash follows traffic stop attempt in Columbia

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to run from a Richland County deputy and caused a multi-vehicle wreck on Decker Boulevard on Thursday.

An incident report filed with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the incident began when a deputy noticed a white Nissan Quest van run a red light at Decker Boulevard and Two Notch Road. According to the report, the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver initially pulled into a nearby Church’s Chicken parking lot but then fled at high speed, making a U-turn in the process.

The report states that the van continued driving recklessly while getting back onto Decker Boulevard and ran another red light at Trenholm Road. A short time later, the van crashed into multiple other vehicles…
