York County SC man sentenced for trafficking fentanyl

In a courtroom packed with people who have lost family to overdoses, and wearing “Fentanyl Kills” T-shirts, a judge sentenced a York man caught by police selling the drug to 15 years in prison under recently-enacted tougher South Carolina trafficking laws.

Jerry Antwan Holmes, 33, admitted to his crimes but said in court he is not a killer.

Holmes pleaded guilty Friday in York County criminal court to five fentanyl felonies including two trafficking charges. York County Circuit Judge Bill McKinnon accepted a negotiated plea deal for the 15 years hammered out between prosecutors and Holmes’ lawyer…
