Batesburg-Leesville welcomes Lexington Three’s potential land buy for future growth

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — A crowd filled the Batesburg-Leesville Town Hall this week as residents voiced concerns over a potential new subdivision on NW Shealy Road.

Before Monday’s town council meeting, many residents believed the 28 acres in question were destined for housing development. By the end of the night, those concerns shifted after officials revealed the land’s prospective buyer.

Batesburg-Leesville Town Manager Jay Hendrix explained that confidentiality was part of the negotiations, saying, “They were asking for some confidentiality so it wasn’t announced until last night at the council meeting that it was Lexington Three that was purchasing the land. So there was some controversy about the secrecy of it, but it was to try to protect them and their due diligence.”…
