Richland County kidnapping suspect facing more charges

A man accused of assaulting and attempting to kidnap a Midlands woman will be back in court this week, but facing different charges.

Timothy Ulness was arrested by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 5 with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping after an incident that happened on Aug. 2.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Ulness was arrested a second time Monday afternoon, and has been charged with third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Officials say they found “hundreds of files containing sexually explicit images and videos of children on his device.” An arrest warrant was then obtained for a third-degree exploitation charge.
