Annual event keeps Gabbiee Swainson’s memory alive with haircuts and hope

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Ridge View High School and Richland School District Two spent Sunday honoring the memory of Gabbiee Swainson, a former student who was kidnapped and murdered in 2012, with their annual “Cuts for Gabbiee” event.

The back-to-school tradition offered free haircuts to students, family fun, and opportunities to give back, all in celebration of Swainson’s life and the legacy she left behind.

Held in the halls of Ridge View High, the event was filled with laughter, music, and the soft buzz of clippers. But underneath the lively atmosphere was a solemn reminder of a young life lost too soon…
