‘Hands Across the Border’ targets impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend

PICKENS, S.C. (WSPA) – The goal of “Hands Across the Border” is simple: get impaired drivers off the road to save not only their own lives, but the lives of everyone around them.

Drivers can expect to see more patrol cars and DUI checkpoints across the state, as part of “Hands across the Border,” a multi-state effort to catch impaired drivers and keep the roads safe ahead of the holiday weekend.

Originally launched in 1991 as a friendly rivalry between law enforcement agencies in Georgia and Florida, the initiative has since grown into a coordinated safety operation spanning five states…
