Myrtle Beach-area drivers react to upcoming ‘hands-free’ law in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Come Monday, Sept. 1, the state’s new hands-free driving law aimed at reducing distracted driving will prohibit drivers in South Carolina from holding or using their handheld devices while behind the wheel.

Currently, 31 out of 50 states are already following hands-free driving laws.

Ride-share drivers use their phones while on the job to accept riders, for navigation, and communication. Uber driver Craig Blatter says it doesn’t really affect him much, since the company is already mostly hands-free…
