South Carolina trooper who drove into path of fleeing wrong-way driver on I-77 honored with agency’s Medal of Valor

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina trooper has been awarded a prestigious honor for his efforts to save lives on a major interstate roughly two months earlier.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol announced that Senior Trooper R.A. Lee had received the Director’s Medal of Valor Award for his fast actions that stopped a wrong-way driver on I-77.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the medal is awarded to members of the agency who “have disingiusihed themselves by their acts of bravery and courage while taking great personal risks above and yond the call of duty.”…
