COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) — The 2026 race for state superintendent is starting to take shape, with two longtime educators launching Democratic primary bids within the past week.
Lisa Ellis, founder of the teacher advocacy group SC for Ed, announced Sept. 5 that she would again seek to become South Carolina’s top education official.
She won the Democratic nomination in 2022 — she was also listed on the ballot as the Alliance Party candidate — but lost to Republican Ellen Weaver in the general election…
