COLUMBIA, S.C. — The City of Columbia is inviting residents to take part in an upcoming community meeting aimed at improving roadway safety for all users.
City officials announced the launch of a public planning process called “Sharing the Road,” which seeks to address safety concerns for pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and both personal and commercial drivers. The effort will create a comprehensive safety action plan that sets a target date for reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
The plan will analyze crash data, identify the city’s High Injury Network, and prioritize projects that address both systemic and specific safety needs.
