SC National Guard returns from Washington DC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – The South Carolina National Guard announced that over 200 soldiers have returned to the state from Washington D.C.

The South Carolina National Guard was deployed to the nation’s capital over a 30-day support mission. Officials said the primary focus for the deployment was to provide support to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and reinforce safety and security for residents.

“Our Soldiers’ ability to jump right into this mission is a testament to their professionalism and resolve,” said Lt. Col. Javier Yudice, commander of the 4th Battalion. “Our Soldiers and officers’ abilities to step into leadership positions above their rank are a direct reflection of how we train.”…
