S.C. safety crackdown busts thousands of drivers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – South Carolina law enforcement officers issued thousands of citations last week during a statewide crackdown aimed at protecting emergency responders and curbing distracted driving.

“Operation Keep Us Safe” took place from Sept. 15-19 after a month when three state troopers were hit by vehicles, one of them fatally.

South Carolina Highway Patrol and State Transport Police issued 1,815 total citations.

Other agencies in the state issued 2,383 “move over” citations in that period…
