‘Check those phones’: Parents warned of coded drug language in texts

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) — A Midlands-based substance misuse treatment center, LRADAC, is urging parents to be vigilant about their children’s communication habits, warning that seemingly harmless texting could conceal coded language for drug use or sales.

Robbie Robertson, LRADAC’s communications director, emphasized the importance of parental diligence, stating,

Now is the time for parents to be really diligent and have those conversations, know what your kids are looking at on their phone on their tablets, even on their social media too.”…
