US Rep. Ralph Norman calls for SC solicitor to be impeached over Logan Federico case

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman is calling for a state solicitor to be impeached over a Columbia murder case.

In a statement Tuesday, Rep. Ralph Norman called for the South Carolina General Assembly to introduce articles of impeachment for Fifth Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson. Norman, who is running for governor in 2026, said his call for Gipson’s impeachment is for what he described as “neglect of duty of his actions regarding the heinous murder of Logan Federico.”

Federico, a 22-year-old from North Carolina, was killed in May after a shooting in Columbia while visiting friends. Authorities said her alleged killer, Alexander Dickey, was on a crime spree when he entered the home Federico was in and shot her. He was later arrested in Lexington County.

In June, a WIS report highlighted Dickey’s lengthy criminal past that included multiple break-ins and arrests for burglary-related counts. That report also noted a discrepancy when he pleaded guilty to a first-offense burglary charge twice. WIS later learned that due to a missing fingerprint from a 2014 arrest, Dickey’s criminal record was incomplete…
