South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley was disappointed to miss out on landing top recruit McKenna Woliczko, but praised the prospect for how she handled the situation.
Woliczko, a 6-2 guard from San Jose, California, was ranked sixth in ESPN’s NEXT 100 class and received offers from USC and South Carolina. However, she unexpectedly decided to sign with Iowa, a team that missed March Madness last season.
The prospect visited the Gamecocks’ facility, but showed class with a handwritten note to Staley after deciding to commit to the Hawkeyes. Staley said it was a first for her since she began coaching, and was extremely impressed with Woliczko’s attitude…
