ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) – An 18-year-old arrested in connection with shootings at South Carolina State University has been released from custody as the investigation into two unrelated incidents continues.
The Orangeburg County Detention Center confirmed Matthew McCoy, a Blythewood resident, was released on a $87,000 bond. McCoy was arrested and charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person and carrying a weapon on school property.
According to arrest warrants released by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, McCoy had a loaded Glock handgun in his vehicle parked on the SCSU campus on Saturday.
