Congresswoman Mace urges banks to protect military families during shutdown

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The government is in its 10th day of being shut down, and military families are among those who may be struggling financially next week, if a resolution is not reached.

There are approximately 34,000 service members in South Carolina, and on October 15th, military members will be missing their first paycheck.

“It really impacts the lower enlisted in our military, they haven’t had time to properly put money aside to save, so they don’t have those savings to pull from,” said Stacey A. Benson, Armed Forces Insurance U.S. Coast Guard Spouse of the Year. “Our service members are really hurting because the government shut down, and they’re going to miss that paycheck on the 15th.”…
