(WACH) — Three disaster-trained responders from the American Red Cross of South Carolina are in Alaska to help after Typhoon Halong devastated several coastal villages, forcing the evacuation of about 2,000 residents to Anchorage.
The Red Cross is partnering with state, tribal, and local officials to provide people with shelter, food, supplies, emotional support, and health services. As winter approaches, many of the affected communities have been left uninhabitable or inaccessible.
