A small community in Columbia was impacted before sunrise Saturday, police report that someone had been fatally shot.
The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. on New York Avenue, which features several duplexed styled homes. Police say they believe the incident was isolated and that the public wasn’t in danger.
Investigators have not released any details relating to the shooting and didn’t specify a motive. The State attempted, to no avail, to contact the department’s watch commander for further information.
By Saturday afternoon, the scene was cleared, and the community echoed with silence without a neighbor in sight. Residents didn’t answer their door to a reporter seeking information.
