COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Water is investing $8.5 million in repairs and upgrades to the city’s aging sewer infrastructure, focusing on neighborhoods across the city, including Gills Creek and soon Kings Grant.
The work is to prevent sewer collapses, backups, and potential overflows that could affect public health and the environment.
According to Clint Shealy, Assistant City Manager with Columbia Water, “We’ve got about a thousand miles of pipe, and a lot of it isn’t brand new. Over time, those pipes start to deteriorate, so this work helps prevent collapses, backups, or even overflows that can impact public health.”…
